Apple has announced the date for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and this year, the event will take place from June 10. It will be a four-day event, concluding on June 14 and some exciting announcements from the Cupertino-based tech giant seem to be underway.

Apple announced the date of the event in a press release, stating, “Apple today announced it will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) online from June 10 through 14, 2024. Developers and students will have the opportunity to celebrate in person at a special event at Apple Park on opening day.”

The opening day, which is June 10, will host an in-person event where attendees will get to witness the event’s keynote at Apple Park. They can also meet the team, participate in activities and more.

Coming to what we can expect from the event, we all know that Apple has been working on generative AI for quite some time. CEO Tim Cook has also talked about Apple’s plans for generative AI on more than one occasion. The company has been hiring for several generative AI roles and also acquired a startup, DarwinAI, recently to accelerate its growth in the area. With so much happening in the generative AI space, it is safe to assume that Apple will, for the first time ever, talk about AI during the event. However, this is only an assumption and must be taken with a pinch of salt as Apple hasn’t officially confirmed anything on the same.

Apart from this, Apple is expected to introduce brand new iOS 18, iPadOS 18, updates for watchOS, and the latest macOS version for their devices.

“WWDC24 will spotlight the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS advancements. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to helping developers elevate their apps and games, the event will also provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features,” the company noted in its press release.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Apple is developing its own GenAI features to be built directly into the upcoming iPhone 16 models. Additionally, significant changes are anticipated for iOS 18, marking one of the most substantial upgrades in years. These changes may include expanded options for customising the home screen and a revamped Siri experience.

Last year, Apple wowed us all when it unveiled the Vision Pro headset during WWDC 2023. The device was all that the tech world could talk about and took the internet by storm. A year later, Apple is expected to take the spotlight with AI. Keep watching this space for more updates about the event.
